There are programs for skaters of all ages and abilities. All skating programs are delivered by your local skating club and you will contact them directly to register. Find the club nearest you by consulting the club directory through the Skate Canada website.
Judges and Evaluators
The Skate Canada Northern Ontario section is looking for skaters who would like to become a judge and/or evaluator. You must be at least 16 years of age and have passed at least one Sr. Bronze test or two Jr. Bronze tests. Becoming trained will involve attending clinics and practicing your skills by trial judging/evaluating. If you are interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
The Skate Canada Northern Ontario section is looking for individuals who would like to become data specialists. These individuals work behind the scenes at competitions doing many integral tasks, including posting starting orders and results. Training is provided, no experience necessary! Board of Directors – Skate Canada Northern Ontario
The Skate Canada Northern Ontario Board of Directors is responsible for the operation and direction of the Northern Ontario section. The board consists of elected volunteers who serve a two-year term. Each board member has a specific area of responsibility. The board meets face-to-face as well as via conference calls; however, most communication is performed through email. Computer knowledge of email, Word and Excel are essential. Some travel is required.
If you are interested in becoming involved, new members are elected to our board of directors each spring at our Annual General Meeting. Application forms for each position that is up for election will be posted leading up to the AGM – watch our website for details. Board of Directors – Your Local Skating Club
Every club has an elected volunteer board who is responsible for all aspects of operating and managing the club. Without these volunteers, the club would not function. The term of service is usually one year. Besides the board positions, clubs always appreciate volunteers to help with fundraising, competitions and other events. Contact you local club to find out how you can become a board member or volunteer.
